Yes, I did read that new characters will be added. The show is scheduled to fold up in February, not May. That's what I heard in DZBB some weeks ago. Also, you can count the collectible cards in their promo, anyway. There's only about 10 of them at most, and we're in the 7th week now. I am sure that they will announce the winners of that promo near or at the end of the show.
streestopper, like you I feel that Dakila does not deserve to be called the sage or wise man of the Mulawin tribe. He doesn't act like one. He's almost as rash and emotional as Rasmus. To me, the one who shows the most common sense and fairness is Bagwis. He doesn't judge anyone for his appearance and he doesn't lose his temper. But you see, the reason why Dakila has become such a stern enforcer of the law is this:
When Ravenum was still alive - he was a member of the Mulawin High Council too - Rasmus wanted to declare war on the people in the lowlands who were destroying the forest. The matter was brought to the Council, and Ravenum and the others outvoted Dakila who opposed the move. Ravenum told him that the law had spoken and everyone must obey. For once, Dakila and Bagwis disobeyed and did not follow the decree. Dakila stayed behind. Bagwis joined the army led by Ravenum and Rasmus, but on the way, he and Rasmus were arguing and Ravenum was shot by the humans. While Rasmus went down to help his father (who had fallen to the ground), the others including Bagwis retreated.
Feeling betrayed and deserted - perhaps, justly - Rasmus took his father's corpse with him and declared war on the other Mulawin. As you know, he brought back Ravenum to life with the berdeng binhi, and Ravenum transformed him and his other Mulawin rebels to Ravena.
Dakila blamed himself for what Rasmus did. You should also keep in mind that Ravenum had been his close friend. According to Bagwis, ever since that time, Dakila never again let his emotions interfere with his decisions. That is why he became so harsh and narrow-minded. The one time he ever let himself get soft cost their whole race very dearly.
I mention this hoping maybe it will throw some light on Dakila's (mis)behavior. I didn't like it either when he treated Gabriel that way. How odd. He was able to accept Tuka and Kuwak and Lawiswis, but not Gabriel. Maybe the blood he sees in Gabriel isn't just any Ravena blood; maybe it is Ravenum's. :)
Anyway, it is interesting to note the contrast between Dakila and Bagwis. Bagwis has had a hard life too. All his relatives are gone except for his brother. He has suffered a lot, but it has not made him bitter or cynical.
I'd like to see how Aguiluz will deal with Lino. Will he kill Lino if Aling Rusing shows up?
What will Ravenum do now that he'll be turning to smoke soon?
What will Rasmus do now? I think Vultra will get killed eventually, but it is too soon if Rasmus kills her in their encounter. I'm curious to see how that confrontation will turn out.
When Alwina reaches the tree, then she will realize she is not the tree's Sugo.
I don't like seeing Gabriel fight in his gray clothes and black shoes. I wish he'd sprout wings or something. :))
As for the lack of reaction on the parts of Alwina and Vultra. Alwina was too stunned. Maybe she thought Lourdes was only making it up to save her. As for Vultra: She cried in Lourdes' dream because there was time for it. :) There's no time to get all weepy when daggers are drawn. Vultra rarely shows much reaction, anyway. Her face usually looks the same throughout.
But what I don't get is why neither Rasmus nor his soldiers covered Lourdes' mouth! He gave the order before; what happened? Man, that's just too dumb. Is that intentional or did the writers overlook it? Maybe "Rasmus" is Mulingo for "stupid"?
Life after Mulawin? Good question.
