[Mulawin] 12/10/2004 02:20:29 PM

I found this on the Web. It’s the same press release in The Philippine Star, but there is an extra paragraph in Star that’s not in Tempo.

Transformation of Pagaspas on Mulawin this week

Being in a popular TV show indeed does wonders for an actor’s career. For young Miguel Tanfelix, reaching the StarStruck Kids grand finals as part of the elite Final Four catapulted him to instant fame, but it was his role as the human child counterpart of the mysterious owl Pagaspas in GMA-7’s top-rating Mulawin that aptly endeared him to viewers’ hearts.

Pagaspas is a young Mulawin (the winged breed of half human-half bird creatures who seek to protect mankind from the wrath of the ruthless Ravenas, Mulawin’s break-away group) who was turned into an owl as punishment for befriending the young Ravena Lawiswis (portrayed by StarStruck Kids ultimate female survivor Sam Bumatay). Both Pagaspas and Lawiswis accepted the curse of not growing up and turning into owls when apart from each other for the sake of their friendship. Along with other mystical and winged creatures, they joined Alwina (Angel Locsin) and Aguiluz (Richard Gutierrez) in the perilous journey to the tree of Mulawin, the only hope in overpowering the evil forces behind the Ravenas’ destructive rule.

The friendship of Pagaspas and Lawiswis is put to the test once more as they are captured by the Ravenas Tuka (Marissa Sanchez) and Kuwak (Bearwin Meilly). It turns out that Pagaspas is the son of Tuka, who was originally a Mulawin before she decided to join the Ravenas. Because Tuka is threatening to kill Lawiswis, Pagaspas gives in to his mother’s demand and agrees to be transformed into a Ravena. However, something will go wrong in the process of Pagaspas’ transformation and this will make a significant impact in Mulawin’s intensifying story.
In PhilStar, it says: “Major revelations are at hand as Mulawin’s fast-paced story nears its climax. Find out what will become of Pagaspas and how Alwina and Aguiluz will back all odds to accomplish their mission. Mulawin airs weeknights after Extra Challenge on GMA.”

P.S. I’m curious. What do the names Lawiswis and Bagwis mean? I think Pagaspas means feather. The name “Rasmus” is the name of a Dutsch rock band (from German “Thrashmush”), I think. Alwina seems to be a play on the word “lawin.”
